Morning Prayer at Nicholaston House
Lord, I open my eyes to see you today.
Lord, I open my ears to hear you today.
Lord, I open my heart to receive you today.
Lord, I open my mind to seek you today.
Lord, I open my hands to serve you today.
Lord, I open my lips to bless you today.
Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not His benefits.
Psalm 46 v 10 & 11 (ESV)
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
My Refuge and My Fortress – Psalm 91 (ESV)
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his pinions,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge—
no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the adder;
the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
When he calls to me, I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
Time of Prayer
Monday - Praying for those in authority
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
Tuesday - Praying for society
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
Wednesday - Praying for the church
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:18-19)
Thursday - Praying for forgiveness
“There were some present at that very time who told [Jesus] about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And he answered them, ‘Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.'” (Luke 13:1-5)
Friday - Praying for protection
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-15)
Saturday and Sunday – As The Holy Spirit leads!
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be your Name.
Your Kingdom come. Your will be done
On earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one
For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
We will stand firm today with the full armour of God.
We will stand in truth, speaking truth and knowing the truth.
We will stand in righteousness, against injustice within my life and the life of others.
We will stand on the Gospel of peace, allowing the Gospel message of Love and Peace to be our foundation.
We will stand in Faith, which will defend us against all attacks.
We will stand, knowing that we are saved by the love of Jesus Christ
We will stand with God’s Word as our attack and protection and we will call upon the help of the Holy Spirit to help us.
Let us go out with love, joy and peace into this world, equipped for the challenges of the day.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
